Harvey Electronics Opens Its 1st Bang & Olufsen Showroom

By Steve Smith -- TWICE, 7/15/1999

Harvey Electronics is opening its first Bang & Olufsen retail showroom at Broadway & 21st Street in Manhattan today.

The 1,500 square foot store will feature its entire line and feature two home theater areas, according to Franklin Karp, president.

"The beautifully designed showroom displays the sleekest, most innovative audio products and phones from Bang & Olufsen, a 70 year old manufacturer of quality alternative home entertainment systems," he said. "The showroom also presents home theater systems, plasma flat-screen televisions and Bang & Olufsen's unique multi-room systems which can be custom installed in your home by our professional staff."

This is the first of five proposed Bang & Olufsen locations to be opened by Harvey Electronics between now and the second half of 2000, Karp said. By next spring, when Bang & Olufsen adds TV to its line, Harvey Electronics will also carry those products.

Karp continued, "The Bang & Olufsen concept takes electronics products and transforms them into lifestyle enhancements. The unique atmosphere is unlike any traditional electronics store. Our store is more like a fashion boutique that appeals to both men and women. Our six Harvey Electronics stores and our new Bang & Olufsen store offer consumers within the Metropolitan New York area a unique upscale alternative to mass merchant chain stores."

Along with its six stores in the New York metropolitan area, Harvey sells high-end home theater and audio products through www.harveyonline.com; www.eBay.com; and E/Town: The Home Electronics Guide (www.e-town.com).
