Memorex Markets Intellimover Technology

Santa Fe Springs, Calif.— Starting next month Memorex will ship its version of Detto Technology's Intellimover, a combination software/ hardware product that helps consumers migrate files from their old computer to their new PC. The $49 product comes with a USB 2.0 and parallel port cables and a software utility that helps migrate the data from one computer to another. However, it will not move applications between computers, which would cause a licensing problem.

BMG Launches Titles On DataPlay Media

Boulder, Colo. — Music Publisher BMG will release several of its recording artists on Arista records on pre-recorded DataPlay media, including Pink, Sarah McLachlan, Outkast, Usher and Adema. BMG joins Universal, EMI and Zomba, which already announced plans to release music on the new digital format. Hardware release plans have fallen behind schedule, but portable players from iRiver and Evolution are expected shortly.

Alera Bows CD Burner

Van Nuys, Calif. — Alera Technologies added to its stand alone burner line with the introduction of the CD Copy Cruiser Pro 24. The burner works with Mac and Windows computers and its 24x-write speed can burn a full CD in about three minutes. It will carry an estimated street price of $349, about $100 lower than the previous CD Copy Cruiser product on the market.

Addonics Ships Flash Memory Card Reader

San Jose, Calif. — Addonics has started shipping the Mini Migidrive flash memory card reader. The device, suggested retail price $49, can read CompactFlash I and CFII, SmartMedia, Memory Stick, Micro Drive, MMC and SD cards. It is about 4 by 3-inches, weighs 5 ounces and connects via a USB port.
