GameStop Merger Gets Green Light

By Staff -- TWICE, 9/19/2005

Federal regulators have given their blessing to GameStop Corp.'s proposed $1.4 billion acquisition of Electronics Boutique.

The merger, which must still be approved by stockholders, would create a video gaming hardware and software specialty chain with over 4,000 locations worldwide. GameStop, based here, is already the largest gaming specialty retailer in the United States.

The combined company would operate under the GameStop name. A shareholder vote is set for Oct. 6.
