Plextor Upgrades ConvertX

Staff -- TWICE, 1/8/2004

Plextor this week during the International CES will introduce the next-generation version of its CovertX Digital Video Converter.

The PX-M402U ConvertX, a real-time hardware digital video converter and editing device, now supports DivX encoding. This allows video to be converted in real time as the video is being captured. This will save consumers time because it eliminates the need to convert the video after it was captured, the company said. It will ship in January with a $159 suggested retail price. Other additions include the ability to edit on disc. This is another time-saving measure as it enables the video to be ripped directly to the disc and then edited.

The ConvertX software is based on InterVideo's WinDVD player and WinDVD creator titles.
