MSN Direct Expands to Smartphones

By Amy Gilroy -- TWICE, 2/11/2008

Barcelona, Spain –Microsoft said its MSN Direct real time traffic and weather service used in navigation devices is now available for smartphones.

MSN Direct delivers real time traffic, weather, stock updates, news headlines, local movie timetables and gas price listings in a glanceable format.

As announced at Mobile World Congress 2008, MSN Direct can now be downloaded at no charge onto a Windows Mobile phone. The service will be delivered via cellular airwaves and will carry a fee to be determined by the carriers. This differs from MSN Direct offered on personal navigation devices (PNDs), which is delivered over an FM sideband at a fee of $49 per year.
