First Full Navigator for 'Google Phone'

By Amy Gilroy -- TWICE, 2/12/2009

Sunnyvale, Calif. —The first application to allow the T-Mobile G1 Android “Google phone” to deliver turn-by-turn navigation will be released from TeleNav Feb. 24, TeleNav said.

The application can be downloaded from the TeleNav Web site for a 30-day trial followed by a fee of $9.99/month for unlimited use. It offers full-color, 3-D navigation maps with voice cues and traffic alerts. It also shows gas prices, weather updates, five-day forecasts and restaurant reviews plus 10 million business addresses or points of interest.

The TeleNav GPS Navigator also includes speech recognition for both address entry and business search. On the T-Mobile G1, customers press a button and say the name of a business or the address and the unit will provide directions.
