Bluetooth-Compatible Headset Debuts

Staff -- TWICE, 6/7/2004

The Step 1150 Bluetooth headset from Step Communications incorporates the company's Acoustic Bubble technology, which allows users to communicate clearly without need of a traditional boom microphone.

Part of Step's HumanLink family of products, the technology virtually eliminates wind noise and other surrounding sounds to provide the user and receiver "unequaled clarity," said the company.

Step's technology captures a conversation as if there was a microphone in front of the user, even though the actual placement of the built-in noise-canceling microphone is above the wearer's ear, thus eliminating distortion and surrounding sounds. The Step 1150 has a suggested $99.99 retail.

The company also provides the BTA-1 Bluetooth adapter for mobile phones that are not Bluetooth enabled. The adapter allows most Nokia, Samsung, Motorola and other mobile phones with 2.5mm headphone jacks to work with the Step 1150. The Step 1150 with the BTA-1 Bluetooth adapter has a suggested $169.99 retail.
