Amphony Debuts '1st' 5.8GHz Digital Wireless Headphone

By Staff -- TWICE, 4/5/2004

Amphony has unveiled what it calls the world's first 5.8GHz digital wireless headphone.

Headphone model 2500 is said to provide true CD-quality wireless digital audio without the audio compression. By transmitting the audio signal at 5.8GHz, the unit eliminates interference problems that may occur with other 2.4GHz devices, such as wireless networks, cordless telephones or Bluetooth devices.

The transmitter provides true digital audio interfaces to eliminate any unnecessary analog-to-digital or digital-to-analog conversion, and to achieve an unprecedented signal-to-noise ratio without any audio distortion.

At a suggested $259, the Amphony 2500 targets the audiophile who expects the same sound that corded audiophile headphones provide, without being tied down to home equipment.
