EDGE Member Co-Hosts Consumer Electronics Expo

By Staff -- TWICE, 7/21/2008

The Consumer Electronics Expo (CEE) 2008, held here last month at the Embassy Suites Dallas-Frisco Hotel, drew more than 700 attendees and 100 CE exhibitors, according to the Edge Distributors Group, whose member Electronic Lane co-hosted the event along with Electronic Lane Mobile, Sunbelt Associates & Distributing and Southwest Electronix.

Dealers who attended the two-day event were provided access to factory representatives, special show prices and an exhibition of home and mobile electronics products.

The trade show also featured seminars and training sessions, including a review of calibration methods, light and color theory, and marketplace strategies delivered by Steve Jackson of Sencore and David Garcia of LG Electronics.

In addition, Universal Remote Control's Robert Durbin provided dealer training on his company's programming codes, graphics and sound technologies, while Electronic Lane's John Ringo and Chris Rice trained attendees on Yamaha's new RX-Z11 11.2-channel digital home theater receiver.

CEE coordinator Katye McGregor, who also serves as director of the Edge Distributors Group, said the show's new, larger venue at the Embassy Suites hotel allowed for a bigger event and greater access to exhibitors and product reps.

Attendees agreed. "CEE 2008 proved to be a great venue to meet dealers that we typically wouldn't have access to," said Marguerita Kaiser, Western regional manager of Universal Remote Control.

Added Lou Kerti, Midwest regional sales director for Sim2 USA: "CEE 2008 granted us immediate face-to-face contact with potential dealers," generating qualified leads for local sales teams.
