Yahoo Unveils DVR Software
By Doug Olenick -- TWICE, 5/8/2006
New York — Yahoo has made available a beta version of its Yahoo Go for TV software that can turn any TV-tuner-card-equipped PC into a DVR.
The free software comes with a daily updated onscreen programming guide. Its basic requirements include a PC with at least 20GB of free space, 512MB of memory and a minimum 1GHz processor. The PC connects to a television via its audio/video ports, which means the PC and TV should be co-located. The programming stored on the PC can then be accessed by other computers through a home network.
The new software does not interfere with consumers who already use TiVo as long as each device has access to the TV signal.
