Wireworld Debuts 'First' High-End HDMI Cable

By Jeff Malester -- TWICE, 1/19/2004

At the same time high-end, state-of-the-art consumer electronics products roll out in the first quarter of 2004, and early adopters line up for longer cabling that provides cleaner signals, Wireworld is introducing a high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) digital A/V connection promoted as the "standard of the future."

Even with major manufacturers currently shipping HDMI equipped DVD players, high definition televisions and receivers, the only cables available to connect these components are the basic no-frills types supplied by component manufacturers, said Wireworld at CES here early this month.

With its new Starlight 5 HDMI, called the "world's first high-end HDMI cable" by Wireworld president, David Salz, the company has designed a product that it says provides superior sound and image quality in the most demanding home theater environments. "The Starlight 5 HDMI cable is expensive, but it means users don't need as many cables," to hook-up their components, said Salz.

Starlight 5 HDMI cable utilizes silver-clad oxygen-free copper conductors and the company's proprietary Wavesquare Digital Jitter Reduction Technology to minimize timing errors so effectively that the cable can be used in lengths of over 65 feet (20 meters) without degradation.

The cables are available from Cooper City, Fla.-based Wireworld in nine standard lengths, with any combination of HDMI and digital video interface (DVI) connectors. Starlight 5 HDMI cables have a suggested $195 retail for a 1-meter cable (almost 40 inches) and will be available in February.
