RTI Adds Touchscreen, Keypad Options

By Joseph Palenchar -- TWICE, 9/17/2007

Remote Technologies unveiled the latest in-wall options for its whole-house remote-control processors, including the $449-suggested RK2 in-wall LCD touchscreen with seven hard buttons. The company also showed three $249-each single-gang customizable keypads with two, four and eight keys, respectively.

The touchscreen and keypads connect to remote-control processors such as the XP-8, which connects to multiple home systems via two USB ports, eight multipurpose I/O ports, eight two-way RS-232 ports, one Ethernet port, eight sensing inputs and outboard IR emitters.

The RK1-2, RK1-4 and RK1-8 keypads incorporate fully programmable buttons that can be custom labeled with text and symbols. The backlight for each button can be configured to display almost any desired color.

The RK2 touchscreen features 2.4-inch high-contrast LCD and seven hard buttons.

The XP-8 processor incorporates 32-bit, 200MHz XScale processor and 32MB of nonvolatile flash memory for fast response. All are available.

Also new:

  • The next version of its T3 handheld touchscreen controller, the T3-V, which adds wireless Ethernet and Web browser to access the Web and control IP-based home systems. It also adds VGA resolution. Additional details were unavailable.

  • The ZM-24 wireless ZigBee transceiver module, which adds ZigBee capability to home control systems to provide wireless control from RTI handhelds.

  • the U2 waterproof wireless remote with LCD display and eight soft keys, for use in hot tubs, pools and bathrooms.

  • the RKM-1 single-gang in-wall keypad, which controls most multiroom audio systems or multizone A/V receivers and provides feedback of power status, source and volume.

  • the MRP-64 interface, which connects multiroom audio systems and multizone A/V receivers to RTI's in-wall and handheld controllers.

Additional details on these products were unavailable.
