Targus Teams To Tackle Notebook Security Solutions

By Staff -- TWICE, 1/20/2003

Portable storage supplier Targus is partnering with motion-sensing security products supplier Caveo Technology to introduce a new security product for notebook and tablet personal computer users.

Providing both data protection and theft deterrence, through Newton, Mass.-based Caveo's proprietary motion-sensing technology and Targus' computer security solutions, the product will be sold under the Targus Defcon brand name in a convenient, easy-to-use PC Card format.

Called the Defcon Anti-Theft PC Card, Targus will market and distribute the product, which has a suggested retail of $99. Availability date is January 2003.

Targus and Caveo also have agreed to explore expanding the partnership in the coming months to more Caveo-enabled Defcon products, and to bring these to international markets.
