CES News: EzGear To Unveil Blu-ray Disc Player

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, January 6, 2009

Las Vegas — Consumer electronics accessories manufacturer EzGear (LVCC, South Hall booth 25321) is using this week’s International CES to introduce its first Blu-ray Disc player, called the BluCobra EZ3000.

The company said the player, which is a BD Profile 1.1 (Bonus View) enabled model, will be the first product in a new BluCobra line of players designed to deliver advanced feature sets at affordable price points.

Slated to ship this spring at a $399 suggested retail, the BluCobra EZ3000 is billed as a multiformat player supporting playback of DVD videos, SACD music discs and Blu-ray discs.

On the HDTV said, the player will support full 1080p/24Hz output in addition to selectable 1080i, 720p and 480i resolution.

The player is said to include composite video outputs for standard-definition sets.

Other video output connections include HDMI 1.3, component video and S-Video.

Multiple audio formats are supported by the EZ3000, including Digital Dolby, MPEG-2 Audio, Dolby TrueHD (lossless) and DTS-HD Master Audio.

Sound output options include: two-channel down-mix audio for direct connection to a TV or stereo Hi-Fi system; analog 7.1-channel audio outputs for connection to multichannel input ready receivers and sound systems, and full 7.1-channel digital audio options. Both optical and coaxial digital audio is supported.

Charlie Bernstein, EzGear president, said: “With the economic challenges facing everyone, EzGear believes American consumers are looking for Blu-ray products they can afford. With an affordable price and the flexibility of the EZ3000 to connect to virtually any TV or stereo, EzGear is making it easier for consumers to adopt digital television in 2009.”
