Digital Age Headphone Makes Music On PC, Mac

By Staff -- TWICE, 11/7/2005

Using a proprietary protocol over a 2.4GHz wireless frequency, the Walk-Free wireless headphone from Digital Age Products is said to cut the wire between “great-sounding” headphones and a desktop or notebook computer. The headphone is positioned by the maker to set a new standard in price and performance for wireless units at the price of traditional wired headphones.

The Walk-Free headphone model DAP-007A transmits the audio from a computer, and users can move up to 33 feet away. Both digital-sound quality and distance are advantages over other wireless headphones that use infrared, FM or other wireless frequencies to transmit audio. In addition, at a suggested $59.95 retail, the headphone is priced 20 percent to 40 percent lower than other wireless headphones.

Headphone includes a tapered, adjustable design with a comfortably padded set of earphones that work off two AA included batteries. Headphone includes a volume control dial and transmit audio from a computer using a USB wireless 2.4GHz radio transmitter with eight built-in selectable channels.
