DEI Introduces Car Audio, Video Products

By Amy Gilroy -- TWICE, 1/8/2002

DEI is simultaneously launching a new car audio line called Viper Audio and entering the car video market with a full line of DVD players, VCRs and unique "removable" screens.

Under the Viper Audio brand, DEI is showing new lines of car amplifiers, speakers and subwoofers. Among the 11 new amplifiers is the Viper 2500d, a 2,500 watt model at a suggested retail price of $1,500.

DEI's new in-car video products will launch under the Directed Video brand. The line includes an overhead console that fits three different "snap in" screens in 5.6-inch, 6.8-inch and 7-inch sizes. In addition, DEI plans to introduce in the future, a home docking station so users can unsnap a monitor from the car and place it in any room of the house.

The detachable system also helps to prevent theft and to reduce dealer inventory, according to a spokesman.

Also new from Directed Video is a 5-inch headrest monitor, two DVD players, VCRs with and without a TV tuner, a multicontrol module, video amplifier, FM modulator and headphones.

Directed said its new video systems are unique in that they work with many of the company's security products so that users can program the security products via the screen.
