TigerDirect Partners With American Heart Association

By Colleen Bohen -- TWICE, 2/12/2008

Miami — TigerDirect has teamed up with the American Heart Association this month to donate a minimum of $100,000 and promote heart health through its catalog, retail stores and Web site.

“TigerDirect wants everyone to understand the importance of heart health,” said Gilbert Firentino, TigerDirect CEO. “With our catalog reaching over 2 million individuals during the month of February, and millions more visiting TigerDirect.com, we hope to be able to spread the message of the American Heart Association and help in making a difference.”

In order to promote the association’s message, the company has made its Web site red and is providing customers who make purchases at TigerDirect.com with the opportunity during checkout to make their own contributions of $1, $5, $10, $20 or $100 to the American Heart Association.

The company kicked off its promotion at an event for employees held at its headquarters here on Feb. 1. According to a release, employees wore all red attire and attended speaker sessions regarding heart health.

The company is also planning a live marathon webcast on its site on Feb. 15. Beginning at 9 a.m., TigerDirect said it will offer products for 50 percent off their selling price with 100 percent being donated to the American Heart Association. According to a release, products including laptops, televisions and other products will be made available on a limited basis.
