Best Buy Opens Its Second Store In Manhattan

By Alan Wolf -- TWICE, 7/21/2003

Best Buy opened its second store in Manhattan last week.

The 30,000-square-foot unit is located at Lexington Avenue and 86th Street, a heavily trafficked intersection on Manhattan's posh Upper East Side. The former HMV site is one block away from Circuit City and P.C. Richard & Son stores and is adjacent to a Staples.

Best Buy opened its first store in Manhattan 13 months ago. The new addition — a two-level Concept 5 store featuring innovative merchandising displays unique to this location — is being heralded by a weeklong series of promotions, including appearances by R&B artist Ashanti and the rock bands KISS and The Goo Goo Dolls.

The company also opened stores in the nearby towns of Mount Vernon, N.Y., and Huntington Station, on Long Island, last week, bringing its greater New York area presence up to 31 locations.
