Duracell Introduces 15-Minute Charger

By Staff -- TWICE, 4/10/2006

Duracell is launching the latest additions to its rechargeable nickel metal-hydride (NiMH) line of power products, including a 15-minute charger and higher capacity 2650 mAh AA and 1000 mAh AAA rechargeable cells, designed for the need of such high-drain consumer electronics devices as digital cameras.

The new products, said to reinforce Duracell's commitment to provide dependable power for every type of digital camera user, point toward frequent digital camera users, such as those consumers powering up their cameras at least once a week.

The new Duracell charger, which focuses on convenience and maximum power performance in a minimal amount of time, can charge a quartet of 2400 mAh cells in 15 minutes — delivering up to four times as many photos as alkaline batteries with every charge, said the company. The charger also will power all standard AA or AAA NiMH cells.

The 15-minute charger comes with four 2400 mAh AA NiMH batteries and has a suggested retail range of $27.99 to $39.99. Availability had been scheduled for February.

At the same time, Duracell is introducing what it calls its highest-capacity rechargeable NiMH batteries ever. The new 2650 mAh AA cells and 1000 mAh AAA cells are scheduled for May availability.

Suggested retails for a four-pack of 2650mAh NiMH batteries range from $9.99 to $12.99.

In addition to the rechargeable products, Duracell also is making available additional power solutions to accommodate digital camera users. These include the PowerPix, a new disposable battery designed for moderate users who take from 21 to 80 pictures per month, and the Ultra Digital, a premium alkaline battery for occasional digital camera users who take fewer than 20 pictures per month.
