TomTom Mixes Nav And iPod Control

By Amy Gilroy -- TWICE, 3/13/2006

TomTom is introducing two new portable navigation devices that double as iPod interfaces for the car radio.

The new TomTom GO 510 (with SD card slot) and 910 (with 20GB hard drive) connect to an iPod and can control the iPod and display its text on the GO's larger 4-inch screen. The TomTomGO itself then connects to the car radio so the iPod is played through the radio.

The GO 510 and 910 navigation devices have preloaded maps and Bluetooth capability and the 910 offers voice announcements of upcoming street names. The units have built-in MP3 players and a desk mount cradle and can be used with Bluetooth speakers.

Shipping is expected April 15 at suggested prices of $699 for the GO 510 and $899 for the GO 910.
