Borders Books Offering Wireless Web Access

By Doug Olenick -- TWICE, 4/21/2003

T-Mobile USA and Borders bookstores have teamed up to place wireless networking hot spots in 145 Borders Book and Music Stores.

The stores, located in California, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, New Jersey, Texas and Washington now have 802.11b broadband Internet access. This service will be expanded by mid-June to include the majority of the Borders 410 locations.

Customers that wish to use the service must have a T-Mobile HotSpot service account with a starting rate of $29.99 per month. The service allows access at 2,300 U.S. locations, including the Borders stores.

The T-Mobile hot spots are not affiliated with the WiFi Zone wireless access areas sponsored by the WiFi Alliance.
