InFocus Adds Gaming Projector

by Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 11/8/2007

Wilsonville, Ore. — InFocus is now offering a compact DLP video projector designed for optimal video game play.

InFocus said the Play Big IN1 ($499 street retail) gaming projector was designed specifically for consoles, such as the Nintendo Wii, Xbox and PlayStation, and is capable of displaying images measuring up to 8 feet (diagonally), although it will also accept signals for most other video source components.

The IN1 features an expanded pack of input jacks, supporting S-video, component video and composite video. It also incorporates audio support with a built-in amplifier and two-speaker stereo system based on high-performance car audio technologies, the company said.

Resolution is listed as 640 by 480 (VGA), brightness is 500 ANSI lumens and the contrast ratio is said to be 1,500:1.

Accessories available for the unit include a padded backpack, gold-plated Wii component connectivity cable and a ceiling mirror that flips the image on the ceiling for an above-ground viewing experience.

InFocus launched the product Thursday exclusively through Woot!. The projector and lamp (a Philips 132w UHP rated at 1,000 hours) are covered by a 90-day warranty.
