Arlington Heights, Ill. — If a CD, PlayStation game or DVD movie is skipping, freezing or won't play, the SkipDR AutoMax can restore these to “good-as-new” shape, according to maker Digital Innovations.
The desktop “doctor” can repair disc scratches in 60 seconds, after the disc is sprayed with a resurfacing fluid and slipped into a slot in the unit where the motorized radial wheel will automatically remove a microscopic layer of plastic on the play side while leaving the contents intact. The disc is dried and shined with a special cloth and buffing square, leaving a like-new CD or DVD, said the company.
The SkipDr AutoMax, slightly larger than a computer speaker, is said to be the first fully automated product in its class. The unit also can repair CDs or DVDs containing irreplaceable photos or indispensable software programs. Suggested retail is $39.99.
