Microsoft, Siemens To Co Develop Car Products
by Amy Gilroy -- TWICE, 9/9/2007
Redmond, Wash. — Microsoft will develop in-car entertainment/information products jointly with Siemens VDO Automotive, the companies announced.
Microsoft and Seimens said they will offer navigation, high-end multimedia units and devices to connect portable products to the car using Microsoft software. The companies claim they will be able to do this "much faster than the typical automotive industry’s product development cycle," according to a news release.
The first jointly produced product will be an integration device for portable products that could be released in 2009.
