YouTube Comes To TiVo Series3 DVRs

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 7/17/2008

Alviso, Calif. — Digital video recorder resource TiVo said Thursday that it is now making YouTube videos available on Series 3 TiVo DVRs.

The two companies have formed a partnership that will allow broadband-connected subscribers with Series3 models and TiVo HD DVRs to access user-generated videos hosted on the YouTube Web site.

TiVo said that it will allow users to search for, find and view YouTube content through TiVo’s user interface. Soon, the DVR service provider said, users will also be able to log into YouTube accounts directly through the TV to access their personalized videos, channels and playlists.

The company said that over the next few weeks it will roll out a software upgrade to Series3 and TiVo HD DVRs that will enable the feature.
