SAN DIEGO — Iomega has introduced its first 1TB external hard drive under the XL Series brand.
The Iomega desktop hard drive is for the prosumer market and those consumers looking for more than just run-of-the-mill storage capacity. The hard drive's 6.4-inch wide by 8-inch high by 12.5-inch long chassis contains four 250GB SATA 7,200rpm drives. The device attaches through a PC's Firewire 400, Firewire 800 or USB 2.0 ports. It can hold 4 million photos, 1,500 hours of video or 18,500 hours of music, the company said.
The XL uses Dantz Retrospect Express software for backup and disaster recovery.
The unit carries an $899 suggested retail and is available through Iomega.com, distribution and several online retailers.
