Energizer Bows Energi To Go Portable Power For iPod

By Colleen Bohen -- TWICE, 8/7/2007

St. Louis — Energizer Holdings has introduced the Energizer Energi To Go Portable Power for iPod, a battery-powered iPod charging device.

Energizer first introduced its Energi To Go line last year with a cellphone charger and four-battery power packs for iPods and gaming devices.

The product is intended to provide extended play time for on-the-go iPod users. It is compatible with the fourth- and fifth-generation iPods, the first- and second-generation iPod Nanos and the first-generation iPod Mini.

Energizer's Energi To Go iPod charger is compatible with multiple iPod models.

The product can be powered by any two AA batteries; however, the company suggests that Energizer e2 lithium batteries to be used for optimal performance. While the amount of battery power will differ with each iPod model, the company estimated that with the use of lithium batteries the device can provide more than 32 hours of music playback or 12 hours of video playback for an 80GB iPod with video.

The charger measures approximately 3.5 inches long by 1.25 inches wide and 0.75 inches deep. It features a flip design that allows it to be used as an iPod dock while playing or charging.

Packaged with two Energizer e2 lithium AA batteries, the product will be available through mass merchants in October at a suggested retail of $29.99.
