NAB, CBS Outernet Expand DTV Outreach

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 12/2/2008

New York — As the analog TV cutoff countdown clock races to the appointed Feb. 17, 2009, deadline date, the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) and partners have now expanded their public service announcements to out-of-home video network platforms.

The NAB said Tuesday it is working with the CBS Television Network’s CBS Outernet to produce 15 30-second promotional spots to begin airing this month on American Airlines, AutoNet TV, the CBS Outernet Grocery Network, Gas Station TV and the Healium Network, which collectively deliver close to 70 million out-of-home viewers each month, the NAB said.

The spots will also run on the CBS Television Network and many of its television affiliates, and include celebrity advocates from hit CBS TV shows including “Numbers” and “NCIS.”

The Outernet partners will also run selected spots produced by the NAB that inform consumers about how to upgrade to DTV and select the right antenna.

More information on the DTV transition is available at www.dtvanswers.com.
