Tech Depot Picks Up Pelham Sloane

By Doug Olenick -- TWICE, 12/6/2004

Office Depot's Tech Depot subsidiary has started selling computers from high-end PC maker Pelham Sloane.

The deal has Pelham Sloane posting about a dozen products on the Tech Depot online store, on what is called a manufacturer's mini-store. The computers range in cost from $2,200 to $3,300 and are geared toward the VAR and custom-installation market, but are being made available to consumers through this deal. Most Pelham units are installed via the custom installation channel or in new home construction.

Chris Miller, Pelham Sloan's sales VP, described this market as minimal but with great potential because of consumer's growing interest in home networking and home automation.

Tech Depot is the corporate technology arm of the office supply superstore chain that primarily deals with business to business sales.
