AOC Bows Combo Panel

By TWICE Staff -- TWICE, 7/11/2008

Freemont, Calif. — AOC is positioning its latest flat panel, the 2230Fm, as a “true HD monitor, HDTV, digital picture frame and multimedia player,” all in one 22-inch device. The company is calling its new product the result of HD3 Display technology.

The device, which at first glance appears to be a computer monitor, features a built-in media player that will allow a user to view content without the use of an attached PC or DVD player. It has a proprietary menu format and remote control for users to find their content on a variety of attached memory devices.

“While consumers are using cellphones for MP3 players, Internet browsers, TVs, navigation devices and phones, AOC determined that consumers deserved a display that would act as more than just an HD monitor or TV so we developed HD3,” said Robert Velez, AOC marketing manager. “We’re very excited to be the first to bring HD3 technology to the market with the 2230Fm. AOC has taken over 40 years of display manufacturing experience to create this new way for consumers to enjoy a wide array of video options with a built in media player, and top-level performance regardless of whether it’s being used as an HD TV, monitor or digital picture frame.”

The device is said to be 720p through 1080p compatible. It features a USB 2.0 hub, a four-in-one memory card reader, DVI-D, VGA-D and HDMI with HDCP inputs.

The screen features a 20,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and 2ms response time. It has a glossy-black finish and features low-profile integrated speakers.

Pricing for the 2230Fm is set at a suggested $399.

In addition to the 22430Fm, AOC has also just released a 42-inch 1080p LCD HDTV, model L42H861, and a new computer monitor, model 2218Ph.

The L42H861 offers a dynamic contrast ratio of 6,000:1 and 1,920 by 1,080 resolution.

Its three digital HDMI inputs have been placed horizontally for easier installation. It also has a PC input with audio out, and an S/PDIF audio output.

Other features include digital ATSC and Clear QAM tuners, a 3-D comb filter, color enhancement and noise-reduction features. It comes with a swivel stand but can also be wall-mounted.

The TV, which is said to consume less power than previous AOC models, carries a suggested retail of $999.

Finally, the company’s new 2218Ph computer monitor has a 12,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and an FRC 8-bit panel said to offer 16.2 million colors, and it has a 2ms response time.

The device, which comes equipped with a flexible zinc stand to allow for a wide variety of placement angles, has HDMI inputs and is HDCP ready.

The monitor has a piano-black bezel and polished-aluminum cabinet. Its suggested retail is $429.
