Patrican To Leave Maxell

Fair Lawn, N.J. – Don Patrican, executive VP of branded sales for Maxell Corp. of America and a 30-year veteran of the recording media industry, is leaving the company.

In an internal memo issued Monday and obtained by TWICE, Maxell announced Patrican’s decision to leave the company and “pursue other opportunities.”

When contacted, Patrican told TWICE that his future plans likely include consumer electronics because, “There are a lot of new technologies in the industry and I want to be part of that.”

Patrican, who is currently a member of Maxell Corp. of America’s board, will stay on with Maxell through March 31 at the request of company president Hideaki Numoto to “focus during this time, with other members of the Maxell organization, to ensure a smooth transition.” No replacement has been named at this time.

In the memo Maxell “sincerely thanks Don for his contributions, to our company and the industry and wishes him all the best in his future endeavors.”

Patrican has had two stints with Maxell throughout his career. His most recent stint begain in Dec. 1997 and over the years Don has been responsible for many areas of the Maxell business in the branded sales area including the consumer, professional & industrial and previously also the commercial division. He previously had responsibility as well for the marketing, sales support and advertising areas. Patrican’s first period with Maxell ran from November 1979 through May 1986.

He currently serves on the Board of Industry Leaders for the Consumer Electronics Association and the Content Delivery and Storage Association board. He has previously served on the board of International Mass Retailers Association and the Board of Photographic Manufactures and Distribution Association. In Nov. 2007 he was presented the ‘Patricia Rienzi Legacy Award by the National Consumer Technology Industry and the Anti-Defamation League for his contributions to the consumer electronics industry.
