Sony Style Stores To Get Holiday Windows

By TWICE Staff -- TWICE, 11/16/2007

New York — The windows of Sony’s 40 Sony Style stores will be decorated with a gift-giving theme this holiday season, and according to the company the designs will incorporate hints intended to help consumers looking for the “perfect gift.”

The retailer’s window theme this year is “What to Give, What To Get, Hint: It’s a Sony.” According to a release, the vignettes will incorporate the ballerina, the nutcracker and the mouse king characters from the classic holiday story, “The Nutcracker.”

The majority of the stores, save for the flagship Sony Style location here, will feature the following key elements:

·         a 6-foot ballerina who stands on point and wears a skirt housing a selection of products including a PlayStation Portable, Alpha DSLR-A700 camera, Cyber-shot DSC-T10 and DSC-T2, Reader Digital Book, Vaio VGN-TZ series notebook, Vaio mice in various colors and a Sony Ericsson mobile phone;

·         a nutcracker figure represented graphically in a metallic banner behind the ballerina. The banner, created by French illustrator Danielle Siegelbaum, is said to feature graphics of Sony products including a Bravia TV remote control as the body of a toy soldier, a Mylo personal communicator as the head of a toy solder, a Vaio notebook PC as a messenger bag, Cyber-shot cameras as the heads of the toy solders, and a PSP purse.

·         a three-dimensional Vaio mouse king placed at the base of the window. The windows are also said to feature snowflakes that incorporate elements of Sony’s HDNA advertising campaign.

·         Another exterior window is said to feature five 26-inch Bravia TVs in a variety of colors “stacked up like pastries on a cake stand.”

The company noted that its Manhattan flagship location, on Madison Avenue, will feature a more elaborate version of the theme, including a giant silver nutcracker with red and neon digital signage embedded in his chest, mice shopping online at sonystyle.com, “enormous” gift boxes with HDNA ribbons, and large LED pulsating HDNA snowflakes. It will also feature a holiday scent at the store entrance, in addition to the mandarin and vanilla scents standard throughout the Sony Style stores.

Holiday-themed windows are a staple for many Manhattan stores.

In addition to the windows, the interior of the stores feature 3D HDNA LED snowflakes clustered together as a mobile.

Finally, the retailer also said it plans to offer a Sony Style custom holiday CD as a gift with purchase, while supplies last.
