Samsung HDs Due

RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J. — Samsung is getting ready to ship its first two hard-drive-based headphone portables. A 10GB model is planned for June, and a 20GB model is due in August, said marketing manager Russell Bleeker.

Panasonic Expands MP3-CD Portables

SECAUCUS, N.J. — Panasonic is expanding its selection of MP3-CD headphone portables to two from one with the April shipment of the $89-suggested SL-MP35 and May shipment of the $109 SL-MP36C. Both extend MP3 playback time by almost three times over the company's first model, which shipped last October. MP3 playback time hits 40 hours, with Redbook CD playback hitting 30 hours.
