Solar Battery Charger Powers Up AAA Cells, MP3 Player

By Staff -- TWICE, 4/10/2006

Advanced Media, which makes Ridata-brand recordable CD and DVD media, is making available in late April its Ridata S1000 solar-powered battery charger.

The unit charges AAA batteries and USB connectable MP3 players. It is lightweight, durable and waterproof, said the company, and is as efficient as any current conventional charger.

Advanced Media believes individuals concerned with energy costs, as well as those who favor green energy, will be attracted to its solar charger, and that the S1000 will find favor with travelers and campers. Its compact design is expected to draw mobile users, said the company.

Typically, the S1000 will fully charge an MP3 player with USB connectivity in direct sunlight in two and 1/2 hours.

Suggested retail is less than $40.
