Imation Teams To Retail Napster Optical Media Products

Staff -- TWICE, 3/22/2004

Optical media maker Imation is teaming with online music provider Napster to make Imation the exclusive distributor of Napster-brand optical media products in the United States.

The agreement calls for Imation to provide sales, marketing and distribution services for Napster-brand blank CD and DVD products.

The two companies, along with storage maker Case Logic, are again joining with Target Stores to launch the first one-stop shop where consumers can buy a complete digital music experience.

This partnership includes pre-paid Napster download cards, a Napster 2.0 and software pack, blank Napster-brand optical products from Imation that feature promotional codes for redeeming free music downloads, and Napster-brand CD cases from Case Logic. Target is the first national retailer to offer the entire line, said Imation.

Napster-branded CDs sold at Target include a 10-pack silver spindle with one free download for $7.99, a 25-pack neon spindle with two free downloads for $14.99 and a 50-pack silver spindle with four free downloads for $22.99.
