Maytag Line Moves Into SAM'S Club
By Tedra Meyer -- TWICE, 8/9/2000
NEWTON, Iowa -- Maytag brand major appliances will begin to appear in SAM's Clubs in the Dallas-Fort Worth area next week, and will continue to expand, reaching clubs nationwide by the first quarter of next year, according to a statement by William L. Beer, president of Maytag's major appliance division.
Maytag washers, dryers, ranges, dishwashers and refrigerators will become a regular part of the selection at SAM'S Club, a division of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. SAM'S Club is the nation's leading members-only warehouse club and was ranked 11th in TWICE's Retail Registry this year.
"Expanding our served markets is a key strategy for growth at Maytag, and the new distribution agreement with SAM'S Club illustrates that strategy," Beer said. "By selling through their locations, we will be putting Maytag products in front of more consumers and competing for more purchase decisions."
This development comes on the heels of Maytag's announcement in April that Home Depot would begin carrying its brand.
SAM'S Club operates more than 460 locations in the United States and has more than 39 million members.
