RoadWired Debuts Rivet Carrying System

By Staff -- TWICE, 5/17/2004

A new line of interchangeable "micro fasteners," designed to carry cellphones, compact cameras and other small devices, is available from RoadWired.

Called the Rivet line, it is positioned as a high-tech alternative to traditional plastic belt clips. Made of aluminum and stainless steel, it is modular, allowing it to be used as a belt clip, dashboard mount or even a "docking point" on a carrying case or bag shoulder strap.

The hub of the Rivet system is the e-Clip, a lightweight assembly featuring a spring-loaded top entry gate and push-button lower release chute. The clip accepts a steel pin attached with an adhesive tab to the device to be carried.

Several different pins — straight, hinged or lanyard-mounted — are available for different applications. The back of the clip accepts a variety of steel attachments via a flush-mount quick-release. Available attachments include a belt clip, dashboard mount, fabric pin mount and hanging hook.

RoadWired is offering the Rivet in a variety of ready-to-use kits. The all-in-one Power Broker Kit includes the e-Clip, fixed pin and lanyard pin, belt clip, dash mount and fabric pin for a suggested $39.95 retail. The basic kit, called the e-Treker, includes the e-Clip, fixed pin and belt clip for a suggested $29.95.
