Spetrotec Offers Fingerprint Car Starter
By Staff -- TWICE, 1/8/2007
LAS VEGAS — Spetrotec's research and development division is showing its latest fingerprint-identification technology, called FPID, at booth North 6418. The technology is designed specifically for use in the automobile industry as a touch-and-drive biometric device. The FPID can store the fingerprints of 10 different people and can communicate with any DTMF cellphone. This will allow a car owner to use his or her cellphone as a remote start/entry device. The biometric key is enabled through a finger swipe. In addition, a usage log is kept and stored for data monitoring if the owner so desires. Spetrotec did not provide pricing details at press time.
