Fujifilm Unveils High-Speed DVD+R Disc, Double-Layer Disc

Staff -- TWICE, 9/20/2004

Fujifilm is introducing a new disc that is able to record at speeds from real time to the equivalent of more than 123 mph. The company's new 1x by 16x speed DVD+R media is capable of writing a full 4.7GB disc in less than 6 minutes, making backing up computer files or burning video footage considerably faster.

The new media is optimized for customer recording valuable digital data, whether recording in real time at 1x speed or with a new 16x drive. The DVD+R 1x by 16x media will be available this fall in multiple disc packs and specialized use formats.

In addition, Fujifilm is adding a new line of double-layer discs that allow the recording of up to 4 hours of high quality video on a single disc. The 8.5 GB DVD+R double-layer recordable disc is designed for the new double-layer recording drives recently announced by several manufacturers. Availability also is this fall in multiple disc packs.
