MERA Cancels KnowledgeFest 2009
By Amy Gilroy -- TWICE, 1/16/2009
Indianapolis — The Mobile Enhancement Retailers Association (MERA) announced it has cancelled its KnowledgeFest car audio trade show for 2009.
MERA president Barry Vogel explained; “This was a very difficult decision … We must recognize the economic climate with which we are dealing as well as the lagging attendance at most events within our industry and elsewhere. MERA has a responsibility to the manufacturers and sponsors who finance KnowledgeFest as well as the retail membership who must control their expenses in these volatile times.”
MERA will concentrate efforts during 2009 in three key areas: KnowledgeFest 2010, enhancing member benefits and developing stronger retailer-supplier relationships, it said. The organization is also promoting a “Profit Package” for retailers. Questions may be directed to acowan@merausa.org.
