CEDIA Expo 2008: Projectiondesign Bows Avielo Line

DENVER — Projectiondesign is showing at CEDIA Expo a new Avielo series of premier home cinema DLP projectors designed for both high performance and esthetic industrial design.
At the same time the Norway-based manufacturer said it has the exclusive status of official CEDIA EXPO projector sponsor, and will outfit all training and education rooms with Avielo series 1080p DLP home cinema projectors.
The projectors will be used for the display of a wide range of educational presentation material, high-resolution computer graphics and video throughout the show, Projectiondesign said.
The Avielo series 720p and 1080p DLP projectors are said to incorporate many of the company's commercial technologies for the movie theater industry into a range of home cinema projectors.
The first three models to be released — the Spectra, Optix and Prisma — include Philips UHP VIDI lamp technology, Projectiondesign's exclusive RealColor color-management suite, Texas Instruments' DLP technology, 10-bit video processing, custom designed optics and HDMI 1.3 interconnectivity.
VIDI lighting technology boosts color performance as it produces additional brightness. Users can employ VIDI's Ultra High Performance (UHP) wave shaper to select and boost individual colors.
The Avielo Prisma ($7,495 suggested retail) is an entry-level DLP projector featuring 720p resolution, which is capable of screen sizes up to 100 inches diagonal.
The new, full HD 1080p resolution Avielo Spectra ($10,995 suggested retail) offers a native resolution of 1,920 by 1,080 pixels and is suitable for screen sizes up to 120-inch diagonal. The units use the "Signature" series projection lenses, and high end video processing.
The single-chip DLP Avielo Optix ($25,995 suggested retail) also features full HD 1080p resolution, a choice of six lens options, three of which are from the Signature series. The unit is suitable for screen sizes up to 180 inches diagonal, and uses Projectiondesign's patented 'DuArch' dual illumination architecture. The projector features a Tuscan Bronze cabinet finish.
The company said it will unveil two additional models during the fourth quarter of 2008. The upcoming Avielo Radiance model ($13,995 suggested retail) will be based on the same chassis as the Spectra, but features a higher power output, making it suitable for screen sizes up to about 135-inch diagonal.
At the top of the range, will be the Avielo Helios ($65,000 suggested retail), which uses a proprietary design 3-chip DLP architecture. Features include optically adjustable color gamut without losing dynamics and bit depth, and an image content adaptive output level for 3-chip DLP projectors.
