Cory Says Safety First

By Staff -- TWICE, 1/9/2003

Cory Home Delivery Service is aggressively expanding a new safety initiative after realizing a 54 percent drop in accidents from October 2001 to October 2002 — a period that saw nearly 1 million deliveries.

CEO Joseph Cory Sr. said the program, dubbed Safety First!, was begun to help lower insurance costs and reduce claims amid skyrocketing premiums. Among initiatives taken by the CE and majap home delivery service are daily mandatory truck safety checks, regular reviews by facility and delivery managers of the company's revised safety manual, and mandatory helper assistance during truck back ups — when 30 percent of all accidents occur.
