DEI Settles Suit With Clarion

VISTA, CALIF. — Directed Electronics said it settled a licensing dispute with Clarion, resulting in the dismissal of its patent infringement suit against the company. Directed has also filed suit against Precision Electronics, Accele, David Levy Co., Eli Electronics, The Right Connection Electronics, Crime Stopper Security, Delta Vehicle Security and Stovact. Directed president/CEO Jim Minarik said, "We have a high level of confidence that we will either reach similar agreements with the other parties or ultimately win in court." Directed did not provide the terms of the settlement with Clarion.

Near 56 Percent Increase In Compact Performance Accessories

DIAMOND BAR, CALIF. — The Specialty Equipment Market Association reported that the compact performance market grew by almost 56 percent in 2002, to $2.367 billion.
