By Alan Wolf -- TWICE, 12/1/2008

hhgregg has added gaming to its assortment.

The multiregional appliance and consumer electronics chain said it began offering video game bundles for the Xbox, PS3 and Wii platforms on Black Friday.

"As hhgregg continues its disciplined growth, we are committed to continually assessing our product offerings to best meet the needs of our customers," chairman/CEO Jerry Throgmartin said in a statement. He described the bundles as a "one-stop gaming solution" that also make for a customer-friendly gift item.

The retailer's initial assortment will include Microsoft Xbox 360 Arcade, Xbox 360 Pro, Sony PS3 and Nintendo Wii. Bundles will feature consoles, software and accessories, and the company will also carry handheld gaming devices such as Nintendo DS and Sony PSP.

The gaming inventory will be available at all 109 hhgregg locations across nine states.

President/COO Dennis May said the company's sales staff is undergoing rigorous training in order to provide customers with "expert advice" on the new gaming merchandise.
