Duracell Maintains Strong Push For CP1 Cell

By Staff -- TWICE, 5/23/2005

In its second year in the marketplace, the CP1 lithium primary prismatic disposable battery continues to receive a strong push from its maker Duracell.

With its slim, sleek design, the CP1 enables portable consumer electronics manufacturers — mainly digital camera providers — to design thinner products that accept both a disposable and rechargeable battery source of power. This, in turn, provides consumers with more flexibility, allowing them to choose between using the disposable or rechargeable cell, depending on their needs.

Duracell is marketing the CP1 as the first-ever, high-power lithium primary prismatic battery that has been designed to provide long-lasting power for today's thin profile digital cameras. In the past year, Duracell said manufacturers have developed more than a dozen digital cameras using the Duracell CP1 battery, including the newly launched Nikon Coolpix 5900, Coolpix 7900 and Samsung U-CA 505.

The company feels the batteries “unique design addresses the growing trend of smaller-sized devices and the consumer's desire for convenience. The battery addresses some real needs in the marketplace, so it had potential to set a new standard for disposable power in emerging devices,” said the company. Duracell expects to see continued support for the battery in the digital imaging arena as well as in other device sectors.

Suggested retail for the Duracell CP1 ranges from $9.99 to $11.99.
