Dell Intros $799 Laptop

Round Rock Texas, - Dell has lowered the price bar on its entry-level notebook line with the introduction of the $799 Inspiron 1000 series.

The 1000 series is powered by an Intel Celeron 2.2GHz processor and can be configured in several different fashions. It is available with either a 14.1-inch or 15-inch display, 256MB or 512MB of DDR SDRAM, 30GB or 40GB hard drive, CD-RW drive, it is Ethernet ready and has an optional 802.11g PCMCIA card.

The series is available immediately with a starting price of $799.
