Movies Offered On Memory Cards

DALLAS — Samsung Telecommunications America, Paramount and carrier Alltel Wireless teamed up to offer the Mission Impossible trilogy on a memory card that’s available for free with the purchase of a Samsung Delve touchscreen phone.

It’s the first promotion of its type by a U.S. carrier, Samsung said.

Three full-length feature films are loaded and locked on a 2GB MicroSD card, available with the Delve from Feb. 20 through April 16 at Alltel-owned stores and authorized dealers. Consumers send in a mail-in card to receive the MicroSD card within four to six weeks.

Although Verizon Wireless bought Alltel in January, in the 105 markets where Verizon and Alltel competed, Alltel management independently runs network operations until Verizon sells off those operations under federal mandate.

Verizon Debuts Third PTT

BASKING RIDGE, N.J. — Verizon Wireless expanded its selection of push-to-talk (PTT) phones to three with the addition of the Verizon-branded CDM8975, developed by Personal Communications Devices.

The CDMA 1x EV-DO Rev. A phone is available through all carrier channels at $99.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and new two-year contract.

The carrier’s other PTT phones are the Motorola Adventure V750 and G’zOne Boulder.

Wilson Taps DSI

ST. GEORGE, UTAH — Wilson Electronics expanded distribution of its in-home cellular amplifiers and antennas to include DSI, the largest national distributor of DirecTV service.

Wilson already sells through a number of distributors and dealers, mostly mom-and-pop shops but also including online stores and RadioShack franchise stores. With the addition of DSI, Wilson is able to reach small, independent satellite-TV dealers who can offer installation, a Wilson spokesperson said.
