Logitech Adds To Harmony Line

By TWICE Staff -- TWICE, 2/9/2009

Logitech added to its Harmony line of universal remote controls last month with the introduction of the Harmony 1100.

Featuring a customizable, 3.5-inch full-color touchscreen with QVGA resolution, the Harmony 1100

“The Harmony 1100 is a natural extension of the Harmony promise — to simplify today's complex home-entertainment systems,” said Ashish Arora, VP and general manager of Logitech's Harmony business unit, in a statement. “As more and more people get the bulk of their entertainment at home, the Harmony 1100 will help people get more out of their home-entertainment experience — for a fraction of the price of traditional custom-installed remotes.”

Using the company's new Harmony software, users can reportedly select the commands they use most and put those features on the screen. Other features include tactile guides located around the touchscreen, a brushed-black aluminum top case and soft-touch bottom case, and RF capability. A Harmony RF Extender (sold separately) combined with the 1100 remote lets users control devices that are behind the closed doors of an entertainment cabinet or in another room, from up to 100 feet, said Logitech.

The remote, which is rechargeable, has a one-touch activity-based control system that is powered by what the company calls “the world's largest A/V-control database of entertainment equipment.” Its setup is Internet-based.

The Harmony 1100 is scheduled to be available this month for a $499 suggested retail.
