Terk Antennas Power Up At CES Intros

Las Vegas — Ideally suited for urban and suburban areas where line-of-sight to the transmission tower is blocked, the HDTVlp high-performance, all-band indoor/outdoor DTV/HDTV antenna, from Terk Technologies, is designed for ease of installation. The antenna features a directional/bidirectional design with a removable scatter plane that helps achieve optimum reception of reflected broadcast signals in a wide array of locations.
The Terk HDTVlp is constructed from a rugged outdoor ABS plastic, which protects the antenna from weathering as well as harsh UV rays. It is supplied with an installation kit that enables mounting and optimum positioning in a wide variety of locations.
Suggested retail is $129.99, and the unit will be available in the first quarter.
Also new from Commack, N.Y.-based Terk is the XM6 outdoor home antenna for XM Satellite Radio reception. The XM6 is Terk's first home antenna for XM, and is compatible with all XM home receivers and plug-and-play systems. The unit is compact, and offers maximum reception of XM broadcast, along with a wide choice of installation options.
The XM6 comes with a universal mounting bracket than enables consumers to choose from multiple outdoor installation locations. It can be installed to a wall, roof, mast or satellite dish and features a positioning arm with adjustable swivel-mounts that enable it to be optimally adjusted for best reception. All necessary hardware and connectors are supplied.
Suggested retail is about $100, with availability scheduled for the first quarter.
New at International CES from Terk were two multi-switches, the BMS-44 and the BMS-48. These expand the company's lineup of high-performance multi-switches, with the new models designed to facilitate the reception of DirecTV HDTV programming from DirecTV satellites that will come into service in the first quarter.
The multi-switches can be used with a variety of satellite dish combinations, enabling the reception of DirecTV programming from multiple satellite dish installation configurations. The BMS-44 is a non-powered multi-switch and the BMS-48 features a high-gain, built-in signal amplifier.
The BMS-44 and BMS-48 add to the existing BMS-34 RF/IF band and BMS-58 powered RF/IF band multi-switches already in the company's product line. Although pricing for the BMS-44 and BMS-48 were not announced earlier this month at CES, the BMS-34 has a suggested $99.95 and the BMS-58 is $149.95. Availability for the two newer units is the first quarter.
