SoundKase Skateboard Sports Home Rack System

Staff -- TWICE, 1/24/2005

Portable and home storage systems maker SoundKase introduced at International CES earlier this month a new line of home rack systems. Specially designed for extreme function and style, the rack system holds either DVDs or CDs on a “uniquely designed” skateboard. The DVD/CD rack can hold either 12 DVDs or 20 CDs, or a combination of six DVDs and 10 CDs.

Mounted on a regular-sized skateboard, the home rack systems initially are available in two styles — black with red-colored flames and blue with pink- and white-colored flames. The systems, which will be available this spring, have a suggested $29.99 retail.

A backpack has been added to the SoundKase portables line. Called the SoundSak SonicBoom, the full audio backpack from the Oxnard, Calif.-based division of Scosche Industries, offers dual 4-inch neodymium speakers that are installed in the backpack and can play off any portable audio equipment, including iPods, MP3 and or CD players. Just plug the device into the built-in amp, and the music is ready to go.

The “functional” backpack boasts a detachable audio or camera pod, detachable skate/snowboard straps and dual side accessory pockets. The backpack also can hold a 70-ounce hydration reservoir and is made from water-resistant materials, including zippers, a back panel and molded front panel with large, full-zip gear compartment. The power mesh cellphone pouch on the contoured shoulder strap allows ease of cellphone access.

Two SKUs, SKSB3R in red and SKSB3BK in black, have a $149.99 suggested retail. Add a hydration reservoir and the suggested retail is $159.99.

A new line of CD/DVD storage and visor organizers comes in two different styles. The Street series is a custom-molded TPR street tire design, and the Moto-X design is a molded TPR MX tire design. Street SKC36S is available in 36 or 96, the SKC96S, CD folders and have suggested retails of $11.99 and $19.99, respectively. The Moto-X series, SKC36MX, 36-CD folder, has an $11.99 suggested retail.

A portable, universal DVD player case offers flexible viewing options and storage solutions. It measures 10 1/2 inches by 9 1/2 inches and features a removable DVD-player sleeve for a universal fit on 5-inch by 7-inch portable DVD players. The outer case includes accessory pockets, allowing room for cables, extra batteries, straps and up to five DVD movies. The unit ships in early 2005, and no suggested retail was announced.

A new iPod case will come is three different styles. The SKIPOD will fit the original iPod units; the SKIPOD05T will fit the newer style iPod units; and the SKIPODM will fit the mini iPod units. All styles offer quick-release nylon belt click. Custom window ports allow for convenient download access. All styles come in black with titanium color accents. The SKIPOD05 and the SKIPODM will be available in SKGirl styling with colors in white, pink, blue and lavender.

Suggested retails are $19.99 for the SKIPOD and SKIPOD05T and $17.99 for the SKIPODM.
